About Best Life K9 Academy

I’m Chris, the trainer behind Best Life K9 Academy. I built this business around a simple goal: help dogs and their owners live their best life together.

My start in dog training came from volunteering at an animal shelter. Working hands-on with thousands of dogs taught me to pay close attention to their body language, recognize patterns in their behavior and understand what they were communicating. That experience laid the foundation for my training and behavior modification work. I saw firsthand what helped dogs make progress, what didn’t and when I needed to change my approach.

Those lessons still guide the way I train today. I offer private training, owner coaching, board-and-train programs and behavior modification, with an emphasis on clear communication, confidence and practical skills for everyday life. I look at the individual dog in front of me and adapt the training to their needs, their responses and the goals we are working toward.

Continuing my education is part of my responsibility to the dogs and people who trust me. I am always learning, questioning my approach and looking for ways to do better.

Every dog has something to teach me. I stay open to learning from different approaches rather than limiting myself to a single training ideology. My commitment is to thoughtful training that helps each dog make meaningful progress while keeping their well-being at the center of every decision.

The dogs come first

Best Life K9 Academy grew out of a deep commitment to dogs and the lives they get to live. Every dog I work with is an individual, with their own personality, challenges and needs. I care about their well-being, their progress and what happens long after training ends.

That commitment extends to my work with Lyon County Animal Services and Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation. I help shelter and rescue dogs build skills and confidence, while supporting the people working to give them a better future. These dogs deserve patience, understanding and someone willing to see the potential beyond the behavior they’re struggling with.

The same care guides my work with your dog. Taking time to understand them, being honest about what they need and helping you support them are all part of that responsibility. Success means helping your dog feel more confident, enjoy more of life and build a stronger relationship with you.

This is the commitment behind Best Life K9 Academy: the dogs always come first.
